Simon is a St. John's resident, by birth and by choice. He was raised in the north end of the city and attended St. Pius X, Gonzaga and Memorial University before accepting a scholarship to study at Rhode Island College in the US.
Simon completed his degree in public policy and communications and is currently a public policy analyst and researcher.
At MUN, he was elected to the Student Union for 3 years and served on many academic committees. After graduation, he worked on projects to develop democracy in the former Soviet Union. Locally, Simon served two premiers and several ministers.
He has served on the Georgestown Neighbourhood Association, sits on the board of the St. Pat's Mercy Home Foundation and is active in community activities and events.
Simon is an internationally recognized debate coach and works with local junior and senior high schools helping young people develop essential skills for career and life success.
